Maura Lee

Born near Seoul, S. Korea, Maura grew up in Pennsylvania and was a Music and Dance major at the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music and Dance. [Maura has performed with modern and improv companies throughout the New York area (eg., Dance Ahora, Tapiz Dance, Ballet Asia [ASIAD], Upward Spiral, Thunderbird Native American Dance Company, Omega Dance Company). She has danced for choreographers from around the world - Spanish, French, Filipino, Panamanian, as well Native American. She was the principal dancer & a soloist with Edith Stephen's Electric Dance Co., in its 1995 European Tour, and also for the Monday Series at the Kraine Theatre. She has appeared as a regular cast member for a local cable TV show for two seasons as actor/singer/dancer/choreographer.]

Lee has collaborated with Sridhar Shanmugam (principal dancer, Chandralekha) in several projects over the past five years where he introduces Western modern improv to classical Bharatanatyam dances. She is presently working on a tribute to Mahatma Gandhi in The Path To Peace project created by Sridhar.
Maura founded the Firewalkers Dance Company, for which she has been directing and choreographing for the past five years. She has utilized her talents in acting, singing, dancing, and choreographing on local cable TV shows.

Maura's favorite hobby is swimming with wild dolphins in the Bahamas.

Maura offers classes in modern dance, improvisation, Gyrotonic and Gyrokinesis, and piano in The ARCH's main center in Manhattan. She is also a certified Thai massage practitioner and Reflexologist.
